About The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University
Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU), established in 2019 by an Act of the Punjab state legislature, is a state sports university dedicated to sports education, science, technology and management. Located in Patiala — the historic sporting capital of Punjab (home to the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports NSNIS), MBSPSU is named in honour of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala — the early 20th-century ruler who was a great patron of sports including cricket (he led Indian cricket teams to England in 1911) and is credited with promoting modern sports in Punjab.
MBSPSU offers programmes in Sports Sciences, Sports Coaching, Sports Management, Sports Psychology, Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy, Sports Journalism and Adventure Sports. The university focuses on Olympic-track training for athletes alongside academic degrees. Includes BPE, MPE, MSc Sports Sciences, MBA Sports Management and PhD.
Admissions through MBSPSU Common Entrance Test + Physical Fitness Test (mandatory for sports-track programmes). Academic programmes accept Plus Two merit + MBSPSU CET. Sports merit quota for state/national/international medalists.
