About Punjab Agricultural University
Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), established in 1962 by the Punjab Agricultural University Act 1961 at Ludhiana, is one of India's oldest and most prestigious State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) — modelled on the US land-grant university system. PAU is credited with pioneering India's Green Revolution alongside scientists like Dr. M.S. Swaminathan and Dr. Norman Borlaug. The 1500-acre campus at Ludhiana is the principal centre for Indian agricultural research, education and extension.
PAU has 7 constituent colleges — College of Agriculture, College of Veterinary Science (separated to GADVASU in 2005), College of Basic Sciences & Humanities, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, College of Home Science, College of Horticulture & Forestry, and College of Community Science. ICAR-accredited; consistently ranked among India's top agricultural universities by NIRF. The PAU Library is one of South Asia's largest agricultural libraries.
UG admissions through PAU Entrance Test (state quota 85%) and ICAR AIEEA UG (15% national quota). PG/PhD through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF and PAU-conducted entrances.
