About The IK Gujral Punjab Technical University

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU), established in 1997 by the Punjab Technical University Act 1996 and renamed in 2015 in honour of former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, is the state technological university of Punjab. Headquartered at Kapurthala (with main campus at Jalandhar Road, Kapurthala), PTU is purely an affiliating-and-examining technological university for all engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture and management colleges across Punjab.

PTU has no constituent colleges directly — it is a fully affiliating university. PTU affiliates 200+ engineering and 100+ pharmacy/architecture/management colleges across Punjab. NAAC accredited; recognised by AICTE/COA/PCI. The university administers state-wide common syllabus and exams for engineering programmes in Punjab.
