About Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET)
Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, established in 1989 as an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), Government of India — and elevated to Deemed-to-be University status in 2007 under the UGC Act — is a Centrally-funded technical institute located at Longowal in Sangrur district, Punjab. SLIET is one of the few centrally-funded autonomous technical institutes outside the IIT/NIT/IIIT system and is named after Sant Harchand Singh Longowal — the prominent Punjabi religious leader.
SLIET has 9 departments — Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Food Engineering & Technology, Computer Science & Applied Mathematics, and Department of Management & Humanities. Offers Integrated 3-year Diploma + 5-year B.Tech (a unique programme), 4-year B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and PhD programmes. Funded by Government of India through MoE.
B.Tech admissions through JEE Main + SLIET Entrance Test (SET) for direct B.Tech entry, and SLIET Diploma + Integrated programme for 3+5 entry. M.Tech through GATE. MBA through CAT/CMAT/CMAT-MBA. PhD through SLIET PhD entrance.
