About Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) is a private deemed university located in Patiala, Punjab. Founded in 1956 as the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology by the Thapar industrial family, it was granted Deemed-to-be-University status in 1985 under Section 3 of the UGC Act. TIET operates a 250-acre campus and is consistently among India's top private deemed universities for engineering in NIRF rankings.

TIET has 4 schools — Engineering & Technology, Mathematics, Energy & Environment, and Management (LM Thapar School of Management). Eligibility

B.Tech: Class 10+2 from a recognised board with at least 60% in PCM/PCB (relaxation for reserved categories) — the same form is considered for both JEE Main mode and Class 12 mode. M.Tech: BE/BTech in the relevant discipline with at least 60% and a valid GATE score (non-GATE candidates may be considered with sponsored fee). MBA: Bachelor's with at least 50% and a valid CAT/MAT/Thapar entrance score. PhD: Master's with 55%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / TIET PhD entrance plus interview.
