About Govind Guru Tribal University
Govind Guru Tribal University (GGTU), established in 2012 by an Act of the Rajasthan state legislature, is a state university located at Banswara — in the tribal-majority Vagad region of southern Rajasthan. The university is named after Govind Guru — the 19th-20th century tribal-Bhil social reformer and freedom fighter who led the Mangadh tribal uprising of 1913 (Mangadh massacre, parallel to Jallianwala Bagh). GGTU serves the Bhil and Garasia tribal-majority districts of Banswara, Dungarpur and Pratapgarh.
GGTU has 14 PG teaching departments organised into faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Education, Tribal Studies and Languages. It affiliates 50+ UG colleges across the Vagad region. The Department of Tribal Studies and Department of Bhili Language are flagship research units. NAAC accredited.
UG admissions to affiliated colleges through Rajasthan CAP on Plus Two merit. PG admissions through GGTU PG entrance or CUET PG. PhD through GGTU PhD entrance.
