About National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA)
National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), established in 1976 as a national institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and declared an Institute of National Importance (INI) in 2020 by the National Institute of Ayurveda Act 2020, is the apex national institute for Ayurvedic research, education and clinical practice. Located at Madhav Vilas, Jorawar Singh Gate, Amer Road, Jaipur, NIA is fully funded by the Ministry of AYUSH and is the country's premier centre for advanced Ayurvedic studies.
NIA has 16 departments — Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhanta, Dravyaguna, Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana, Rachana Sharira, Kriya Sharira, Roga Nidana, Swasthavritta, Prasuti Tantra & Stri Roga, Kaumarbhritya, Shalakya Tantra, Shalya Tantra, Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Manas Roga, Yoga & Naturopathy, and Bhaishajya Vyavstha. Offers BAMS, MD (Ayu), PhD and various certificate/PG diploma programmes. The NIA Hospital is a 200-bed Ayurvedic teaching hospital — one of the largest in India.
BAMS admissions through NEET UG with AYUSH counselling by AACCC (NIA national quota). MD (Ayu) through AIAPGET. PhD through NIA PhD entrance. As an INI, NIA admits through national-level entrance examinations.
