About University of Rajasthan
University of Rajasthan, established on 8 January 1947 by the University of Rajputana Act 1946 (renamed in 1956), is the oldest university in Rajasthan and one of the oldest in north-west India. Headquartered at JLN Marg, Jaipur, the university was originally formed as University of Rajputana to serve the princely state of Jaipur and surrounding regions, and was renamed University of Rajasthan after Rajasthan state formation. It is the parent institution from which many other state universities (MDSU, JNVU, MLSU, MGSU, etc.) were later carved out.
University of Rajasthan has 38 teaching departments organised into 14 faculties — Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering & Technology, Fine Arts, Law, Management, Medicine, Sciences, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Pharmacy, Music & Performing Arts, and Pharmacy. It affiliates over 500 UG and PG colleges across central Rajasthan (Jaipur, Dausa, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli districts). NAAC A grade accredited; consistently ranked in NIRF top universities. Famous alumni include former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, former CJI K.G. Balakrishnan and many distinguished personalities.
UG admissions to affiliated colleges through Rajasthan Centralised Admission Process on Plus Two merit. PG admissions through University of Rajasthan PG entrance or CUET PG for select programmes. PhD through University of Rajasthan PhD entrance.
