About Sikkim University
Sikkim University, established in 2007 by the Sikkim University Act 2007 of Parliament, is the Central University of Sikkim. Headquartered at Tadong, 6th Mile, Gangtok, the university is the only Central University in Sikkim. The 300+ acre permanent campus is at Yangang, Namchi. Sikkim University was established to serve as the apex centre for higher education and research in the state of Sikkim.
Sikkim University has 33 teaching departments organised into multiple schools — Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Education, Languages, Earth Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Commerce, Tourism & Hospitality, and Performing Arts. The Centre for Himalayan Studies and the Department of Nepali Language are research-focal units. NAAC accredited and recognised by UGC.
UG admissions through CUET UG, PG through CUET PG, and PhD through CUET PhD or Sikkim University PhD entrance. Central reservation policy applies (SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, PwBD 5% horizontal) with NE-region priority.
