About Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU, formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University), established in 2000 by the UP Technical University Act 2000 and renamed in 2015 in honour of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (11th President of India), is the state technological university of Uttar Pradesh. Headquartered at IET Campus, Lucknow, AKTU is purely an affiliating-and-examining technological university for all engineering, technology, pharmacy, architecture and management colleges across UP — one of the largest affiliating technological universities in India.

AKTU has no constituent colleges; it affiliates 750+ engineering and 200+ pharmacy/management colleges across UP. NAAC accredited; recognised by AICTE/COA/PCI. The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET Lucknow) — main affiliated institute — has historical significance.
