About Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), established in 1996 by the BBAU Act 1994, is a Central University located at Vidya Vihar, Raebareli Road, Lucknow. The university is named after Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar — chief architect of the Indian Constitution and the most prominent figure in the Dalit movement. BBAU was established under special provisions to provide higher education opportunities to SC/ST candidates with a 50% reservation for SC/ST students in admissions and faculty appointments.
BBAU has 21 teaching departments organised into 9 schools — Ambedkar Studies, Education, Information Sciences, Engineering, Sciences, Languages, Management, Social Sciences, and Earth Sciences. The Centre for the Study of Ambedkar Thought is the flagship research unit. NAAC accredited.
UG admissions through CUET UG, PG through CUET PG, and PhD through CUET PhD. Special 50% reservation for SC/ST students (highest among Indian universities); plus other categories.
