About Uttar Pradesh Viklang Uddhar Dr. Shakuntala Misra University
Uttar Pradesh Viklang Uddhar Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU), established in 2008 by an Act of the UP state legislature, is a state university dedicated exclusively to the education of differently-abled students (Divyangjan). Located at Mohaan Road, Lucknow, DSMNRU is one of the few universities in India focused on disability rehabilitation education. The university is named after Dr. Shakuntala Misra — a pioneer of Indian disability rights.
DSMNRU has multiple departments — Special Education (Visual/Hearing/Locomotor/Mental impairments), Rehabilitation Sciences, Sign Language Studies, Braille Studies, Assistive Technology, and Inclusive Education. Offers UG, PG, MPhil and PhD programmes — all designed for differently-abled students with adaptive teaching methods.
Admissions through DSMNRU Entrance Test + disability certification (issued by competent authority). Open to differently-abled students only. Full fee waiver, accommodation and assistive technology provided.
