About Indian Veterinary Research Institute
Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), established in 1889 as the Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory and declared a Deemed-to-be University in 1983 under the UGC Act, is India's premier veterinary research institute. Located at Izatnagar, Bareilly, IVRI operates under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). IVRI is the apex national institute for veterinary research and is over 130 years old — one of India's oldest research institutions.
IVRI has 16 research divisions — Veterinary Microbiology, Parasitology, Pathology, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Public Health, Animal Reproduction, Genetics, Animal Nutrition, Animal Biochemistry, and others. Regional centres at Mukteswar (Uttarakhand) and Bengaluru. Offers MVSc, PhD, Postgraduate Diploma programmes. ICAR-accredited.
No UG — IVRI is PG/research-only. PG admissions through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF. PhD through ICAR-NET. Foreign students through ICAR fellowships.
