About Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Gorakhpur

Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur (MGUG), established in 2021 by an Act of the UP state legislature, is a private state university located at Gorakhpur. The university is named after Mahayogi Gorakhnath — the legendary 11th-century yogi who founded the Nath Sampradaya and lent his name to Gorakhpur city. MGUG is run by the Gorakhnath Mandir Trust.

MGUG has multiple faculties — Engineering & Technology, Yoga & Naturopathy, Sanskrit, Sciences, Computer Applications, Management, Education, Commerce and Performing Arts. Strong programmes in Yoga (given the Gorakhnath legacy) and Sanskrit. Recognised by UGC.
