About Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya
Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya (SSVV), established in 1958 by an Act of the Uttar Pradesh state legislature, is the state Sanskrit university of UP and one of India's premier Sanskrit universities. Located at Varanasi (the city of learning since ancient times — home to BHU, IIT-BHU and several Sanskrit institutions), the university is named after Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant's contemporary Sampurnanand — the second Chief Minister of UP and a Sanskrit scholar.
SSVV has departments of Vyakarana (Grammar), Sahitya (Literature), Vedanta, Jyotisha (Astronomy), Dharmashastra, Ayurveda, Yoga, Sanskrit Computing, Performing Arts, Sankhya, Mimansa, Comparative Philology and Manuscriptology. Offers Shastri (BA), Acharya (MA), Vidyavaridhi (PhD), Shiksha Shastri (BEd) and Diploma/Certificate. NAAC accredited.
UG/PG admissions through SSVV-conducted entrance and merit. CUET UG/PG accepted for select programmes. PhD through SSVV PhD entrance. Traditional pathshala graduates accepted with equivalence.
