About UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University

Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), established in 1999 (operational 2004) by an Act of the UP state legislature and named in honour of Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon (freedom fighter and Hindi promoter), is the state open university of UP. Headquartered at Sahson, Allahabad (now Prayagraj), UPRTOU provides Open and Distance Learning to UP learners. UGC-DEB recognised.

UPRTOU offers UG (BA, BCom, BBA, BCA, BSc), PG (MA, MCom, MSc, MBA, MCA, MSW), MPhil, PhD, Certificate and Diploma programmes through ODL and online modes. The university has 11 regional centres and 700+ study centres across UP. Special programmes for rural and women learners.

Admissions are rolling — two intakes annually (January and July cycles). UG on Plus Two pass basis; PG on bachelor degree.
