About GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology
Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), established in 1960 as India's FIRST State Agricultural University on the land-grant pattern (modelled on US universities), is the apex state agricultural university of Uttarakhand. Headquartered at Pantnagar, Udham Singh Nagar district, GBPUAT is named after Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant — first CM of UP and freedom fighter. GBPUAT pioneered India's Green Revolution and trained the first generation of agricultural scientists; it served as the model for all subsequent SAUs across India.
GBPUAT has 11 constituent colleges — College of Agriculture, College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, College of Technology, College of Agribusiness Management, College of Basic Sciences & Humanities, College of Home Science, College of Fisheries, College of Forestry & Hill Agriculture, College of Post-Graduate Studies, College of Agriculture (Pantnagar), and College of Agricultural Engineering. Operates 50+ research stations and 10 KVKs. ICAR-accredited SAU; consistently among India's top SAUs in NIRF.
UG admissions through GBPUAT Entrance Test (state quota 85%) and ICAR AIEEA UG (15%). PG/PhD through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF and GBPUAT-conducted entrances.
