About Soban Singh Jeena University

Soban Singh Jeena University (SSJU), established in 2020 by an Act of the Uttarakhand state legislature, is a state university located at Almora. The university is named after Soban Singh Jeena — a Kumaon-region freedom fighter. SSJU was created by trifurcating Kumaun University to give Almora-region colleges their own affiliating university.

SSJU has multiple teaching departments organised into faculties of Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Education and Management. It affiliates 40+ UG colleges across Almora, Bageshwar and Champawat districts. Recognised by UGC.
