About Adikavi Nannaya University

Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) is a public state university located in Rajamahendravaram (formerly Rajahmundry), East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Established on 22 April 2006 by the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature and named after the 11th-century Telugu poet Adikavi Nannaya — author of the first Telugu translation of the Mahabharata — AKNU serves the East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna districts.

AKNU operates 4 main constituent colleges — University College of Arts & Commerce, University College of Engineering, University College of Education, and University College of Science & Technology — plus 200+ affiliated colleges across the East Godavari region. It offers UG (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Ed, B.Tech, B.Pharm), PG (MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech, M.Ed), MPhil and PhD programmes.

AKNU admissions are entrance-based across the AP state CETs: AP EAPCET (B.Tech, B.Pharm), AP PGCET (general PG), AP ICET (MBA, MCA), AP LAWCET (LLB), AP PGECET (M.Tech, M.Pharm). UG admissions to BA/B.Sc/B.Com follow OAMDC merit. PhD admissions through the AKNU research entrance plus interview, with UGC-NET / GATE accepted.

UG: Class 10+2 from a recognised board with subject combinations as per programme; minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST/BC). B.Tech: 10+2 with PCM at 45%+ and a valid AP EAPCET 2026 rank. PG: Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with at least 50% (45% for reserved categories) and a valid AP PGCET / AP ICET / AP PGECET / AP LAWCET score. PhD: Master's with 55%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / AKNU PhD entrance plus interview.

AKNU offers Andhra Pradesh State Government Post-Matric scholarships for SC/ST/BC/EBC, the Jagananna Vidya Deevena fee reimbursement scheme, the Single Girl Child concession, the AKNU regional scholarships for the East Godavari region, and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal.

Reservations

Andhra Pradesh state reservation policy applies: SC 15%, ST 6%, BC-A 7%, BC-B 10%, BC-C 1%, BC-D 7%, BC-E 4%, EWS 10%, plus 5% PwBD horizontal. 85% local AP-domicile quota for state-CET seats. NCC, sports, defence-wards and Single Girl Child quotas per the AKNU prospectus.
