About Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences

Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Vijayawada, is the state health-sciences university of Andhra Pradesh. Established in 1986 as the Andhra Pradesh University of Health Sciences and renamed in 1998 in memory of former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, NTRUHS is the affiliating university for medical, dental, ayurveda, homeopathy, unani, nursing and pharmacy colleges across Andhra Pradesh.

NTRUHS affiliates 11 government medical colleges, 17 private medical colleges, 16 dental colleges, plus colleges for AYUSH systems (BAMS, BHMS, BNYS, BSMS), nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, paramedical and allied health sciences across Andhra Pradesh. The university itself does not offer direct UG/PG teaching but conducts examinations, awards degrees and oversees affiliated colleges.

MBBS/BDS admissions through NTRUHS-affiliated colleges follow NEET UG with state counselling administered by NTRUHS. PG medical (MD/MS) admissions follow NEET PG; AYUSH UG via NEET UG (AYUSH counselling); BSc Nursing via the NTRUHS Common Entrance Test or NEET-based counselling. The state allocates 85% seats to AP-domicile candidates and 15% to the All India Quota.

MBBS/BDS admissions follow NEET UG, with state counselling conducted by NTRUHS allocating 85% seats to AP domicile and 15% to All India Quota. MD/MS PG medical admissions follow NEET PG; AYUSH UG via NEET UG (BAMS/BHMS/BNYS/BSMS); BSc Nursing via NEET-based counselling. NTRUHS conducts the centralised entry to all UG/PG seats in its affiliated colleges.

Eligibility

MBBS / BDS: Class 10+2 from a recognised board with PCB and English at 50%+ aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) and a qualifying NEET UG 2026 score. AYUSH (BAMS/BHMS/BNYS/BSMS): same as MBBS plus AYUSH counselling cut-off. MD/MS: MBBS from a recognised university with valid NEET PG 2026 score. Nursing: 10+2 with at least 45% in PCB and qualifying entrance.

NTRUHS-affiliated colleges offer Andhra Pradesh State Government Post-Matric scholarships for SC/ST/BC/EBC, the Jagananna Vidya Deevena fee reimbursement scheme, the Single Girl Child concession, the Aarogyasri health-mission stipend for service-bond MBBS students, and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal.
