About Sri Venkateswara Vedic University

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) is a public state university located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Established in 2006 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and funded by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), SVVU is one of India's specialised universities dedicated exclusively to Vedic studies, traditional Hindu shastras, and Sanskrit-based cultural heritage education.

SVVU offers diploma, undergraduate (BA Sastri / Veda Bhushana / Veda Pravina), postgraduate (MA / Veda Vidwan), MPhil and PhD degrees across the four Vedas (Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda), Agama Shastra, Paurohitya (priesthood), Veda Bhashya, Vedangas (six auxiliary disciplines), Smriti, Darshana (philosophy schools) and Vedic Sciences. Programmes are taught primarily in Sanskrit with Telugu and English support.

SVVU admissions are merit-based on the qualifying examination — for Sastri (UG): pass in Class 10+2 / Veda-Bhushana with Sanskrit and Vedic learning; for Acharya (PG): UG degree in Sanskrit/Vedic studies. Some programmes have an SVVU-conducted entrance test focusing on Sanskrit comprehension and traditional shastric knowledge. PhD admissions through the SVVU research entrance plus interview.
