About Yogi Vemana University
Yogi Vemana University (YVU) is a public state university located at Vemanapuram, Kadapa (YSR Kadapa district), Andhra Pradesh. Established in 2006 by the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature and named after the celebrated 17th-century Telugu poet-philosopher Yogi Vemana, the university serves the Rayalaseema region — particularly YSR Kadapa, Anantapur, Chittoor and Kurnool districts.
YVU has 19 university teaching departments offering UG (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Ed), PG (MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Ed), MPhil, PhD and Integrated 5-year programmes across humanities, sciences, commerce, education, computer science, biotechnology, biosciences, management and library science. The 460-acre rural campus features residential housing, central library and research facilities.
YVU is the designated nodal university for AP PGCET 2026 — the Andhra Pradesh Postgraduate Common Entrance Test administered on behalf of APSCHE. PG admissions to YVU and other AP state universities are largely through AP PGCET. UG admissions through OAMDC merit (Class 12) or AP EAPCET for engineering streams. PhD admissions through the YVU research entrance plus interview.
