About Yogi Vemana University

Yogi Vemana University (YVU) is a public state university located at Vemanapuram, Kadapa (YSR Kadapa district), Andhra Pradesh. Established in 2006 by the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature and named after the celebrated 17th-century Telugu poet-philosopher Yogi Vemana, the university serves the Rayalaseema region — particularly YSR Kadapa, Anantapur, Chittoor and Kurnool districts.

YVU has 19 university teaching departments offering UG (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Ed), PG (MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Ed), MPhil, PhD and Integrated 5-year programmes across humanities, sciences, commerce, education, computer science, biotechnology, biosciences, management and library science. The 460-acre rural campus features residential housing, central library and research facilities.

YVU is the designated nodal university for AP PGCET 2026 — the Andhra Pradesh Postgraduate Common Entrance Test administered on behalf of APSCHE. PG admissions to YVU and other AP state universities are largely through AP PGCET. UG admissions through OAMDC merit (Class 12) or AP EAPCET for engineering streams. PhD admissions through the YVU research entrance plus interview.

UG admissions to YVU and affiliated colleges follow OAMDC (Online Admission Module for Degree Colleges) or AP EAPCET for engineering. PhD admissions through the YVU research entrance plus interview, with UGC-NET / GATE accepted.

Eligibility

UG: Class 10+2 from a recognised board with subject combinations as per programme; minimum 45-50% (relaxation for SC/ST/BC). PG: Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with at least 50% (45% for reserved categories) and a valid AP PGCET / YVUCET score. PhD: Master's with 55%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / YVU PhD entrance plus interview.

YVU offers Andhra Pradesh State Government Post-Matric scholarships for SC/ST/BC/EBC, the Jagananna Vidya Deevena fee reimbursement scheme, the Single Girl Child concession, the YVU Rayalaseema regional scholarships for academic toppers, and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal.

Andhra Pradesh state reservation policy applies: SC 15%, ST 6%, BC-A 7%, BC-B 10%, BC-C 1%, BC-D 7%, BC-E 4%, EWS 10%, plus 5% PwBD horizontal. 85% local AP-domicile quota; 15% open to non-locals. Special quotas for the Rayalaseema region wards, sports and NCC per the YVU prospectus.
