About Chanakya National Law University
Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) is a National Law University located at Mithapur, Patna in Bihar, established by the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. CNLU is one of India's premier National Law Universities and is named after the ancient strategist and political philosopher Chanakya (Kautilya).
CNLU offers a 5-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), one-year LL.M., Diploma and Ph.D programmes in law. Admission to BA LLB and LLM is through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT UG / CLAT PG) conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities, with subsequent CLAT counselling and university-side registration.
CLAT 2026 was conducted on 7 December 2025 by the Consortium of NLUs. The CNLU 2026-27 admission notification and counselling schedule are released on the official portal at cnlu.ac.in.
