About Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya

Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya (JPV) is a state university located at Chhapra in north Bihar, established in 1990 (operational from 1995) by the Jai Prakash Vishwavidyalaya Act, 1990 of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The university is named after Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan and serves the colleges of Saran, Siwan and Gopalganj districts.

JPV offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes across arts, sciences, commerce, management, law and education through more than 25 affiliated colleges. UG admission for 2026-27 is through CUET UG (NTA) and merit-based registration on the university portal; PG admission uses the JPV PG Common Entrance Test or CUET PG.
