About Purnea University

Purnea University is a state university located at Purnea in north-east Bihar, established in 2018 by the Purnea University Act, 2018 of the Bihar Legislative Assembly through the bifurcation of BN Mandal University. The university is the principal affiliating university for colleges across Purnea, Katihar, Araria and Kishanganj districts.

Purnea University offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes across arts, sciences, commerce, management, law, education and computer applications. UG admission for 2026-27 is through CUET UG (NTA) and merit-based registration on the university portal; PG admission uses the Purnea University PG Common Entrance Test or CUET PG.
