About Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University
Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) is a state university located at Bhagalpur in Bihar, established in 1960 by an Act of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. The university is named after Tilka Manjhi — the Adivasi freedom fighter who led one of the earliest tribal rebellions against the British East India Company — and is the principal affiliating university for colleges across the eastern Bihar districts of Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger (until 2017) and adjoining regions.
TMBU offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes across arts, sciences, commerce, management (BBA, MBA), law, education, technology (B.Tech, M.Tech) and computer applications. UG admission for 2026-27 is conducted through CUET UG (NTA) and merit-based registration on the university portal; PG admission uses CUET PG; MBA admission requires MAT.
For 2026-27, TMBU UG online application closes around 21 March 2026 with merit-based admission lists published in June-July 2026. The official admission portal is at tmbuniv.ac.in. The university is UGC-recognised and an AIU member.
