About Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women

Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women (AIHSHEW), established in 1957 and declared a Deemed-to-be University in 1988 under the UGC Act, is a private deemed women's university located at Avinashilingam Institute, Coimbatore. The university is named after Sri Avinashilingam Chettiar — the freedom fighter and founder. It is one of India's premier women-only deemed universities with strong programmes in home science, allied health and education.

AIHSHEW has 7 schools — Home Science, Sciences, Education, Commerce & Management, Liberal Arts, Engineering & Technology, and Performing Arts. The Faculty of Home Science is the flagship. NAAC A++ accredited; among India's top women-only deemed universities. Women candidates only.
