About Annamalai University
Annamalai University is a public state university located at Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. Established in 1929 by the philanthropist Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar, the university was originally a unitary residential teaching university. In 2013 the Government of Tamil Nadu took over the university, and it functions today under the Annamalai University Act, 2013 as a state university.
Annamalai University has 10 faculties and 49 departments offering 500+ UG, PG, MPhil, PhD, diploma and certificate programmes across arts, sciences, indian languages, education, fine arts, music, agriculture, engineering & technology, medicine (Rajah Muthiah Medical College), dentistry (Rajah Muthiah Dental College), Marine Sciences (Centre of Advanced Study), and pharmacy. The university operates a vast distance-education programme.
Annamalai University admissions are both merit and entrance-based. Engineering admissions are part of the TNEA pool conducted by Anna University. UG/PG admissions are online via www.annamalaiuniversity.ac.in/adm/. MBA admissions accept TANCET 2026; PhD admissions are through the Annamalai University PhD entrance.
