About Gandhigram Rural Institute
Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), established in 1956 as a Gandhian institute and declared a Deemed-to-be University in 1976 under the UGC Act, is a private deemed university located at Gandhigram, near Chinnalapatti, Dindigul district. GRI was founded by Dr. T.S. Soundaram and Dr. G. Ramachandran on Gandhian principles — focused on rural development, agriculture and community service. The institute is one of India's oldest Gandhian universities.
GRI has 15+ departments — Rural Development, Sociology, Economics, Anthropology, Political Science, Tamil, English, Education, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, Music & Performing Arts. Offers BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, MEd, MPhil, PhD and Diploma in Gandhian Studies. NAAC accredited.
Admissions through GRI Entrance Examination or merit on Plus Two/UG marks. CUET UG/PG accepted for select programmes. PhD through GRI PhD entrance + interview.
