About Madurai Kamraj University
Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), established in 1965 by an Act of the Tamil Nadu state legislature, is a state university located at Palkalai Nagar, Madurai. The university is named after K. Kamaraj — the freedom fighter, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and a Padma Vibhushan recipient (1976). MKU serves the southern Tamil Nadu region — Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivagangai and Virudhunagar districts.
MKU has 35 teaching departments organised into multiple faculties — Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Education, Law and Management. It affiliates 100+ UG and PG colleges. NAAC accredited. The Sourashtra College affiliated to MKU and several other distinguished colleges are notable.
UG admissions to affiliated colleges through Tamil Nadu state centralised system on Plus Two merit. PG admissions through MKU PG entrance or CUET PG. PhD through MKU PhD entrance.
