About Shiv Nadar University Chennai

Shiv Nadar University Chennai is a private state university located at Kalavakkam, Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu. Established in 2021 by the Shiv Nadar Foundation under the Tamil Nadu State Legislature, SNU Chennai is the second university launched by the foundation (after SNU Greater Noida) and the first private university to be legislated in Tamil Nadu in nine decades. The 100-acre Kalavakkam campus is housed alongside the SSN College of Engineering.

SNU Chennai consists of four major schools — SSN School of Engineering, School of Commerce & Management, School of Science & Humanities, and the Shiv Nadar School of Law. The university offers UG and PG programmes spanning engineering & technology, computer science, mathematics & data science, commerce, business administration, communication, liberal arts, sciences and integrated law (BBA LLB / BA LLB).

SNU Chennai admissions are conducted through the Shiv Nadar University Chennai Entrance Exam (SNUCEE) — an in-person test at designated test centres across India in multiple phases. The exam has two parts: Aptitude Test (Part A, 45 minutes) and Subject Matter Test (Part B, 75 minutes), each scored out of 100 with negative marking for wrong answers. Eligibility

B.Tech: Class 10+2 from a recognised board (passed in 2025 or 2026) with PCM at 60%+ aggregate; valid SNUCEE 2026 score. UG (BBA / B.Com / BA / Integrated): 10+2 with at least 60% aggregate; valid SNUCEE score. PG: Bachelor's in the relevant discipline with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/PwBD); programme-specific entrance/merit. PhD: Master's with 55%+ and qualifying UGC-NET / GATE / SNU Chennai PhD entrance plus interview.

SNU Chennai offers up to 100% merit scholarships based on SNUCEE performance and Class 12 marks; need-based financial aid; the Shiv Nadar Foundation Scholarship for high-achieving students; and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships for SC/ST/OBC/EWS through the National Scholarship Portal.

Reservations

As a private state university, SNU Chennai follows its own internal admission policy. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates receive eligibility relaxations and Government of India Post-Matric scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal. Tamil Nadu domicile preference may apply per the SNUCEE prospectus. Single Girl Child concessions and sports quotas as published.
