About Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS), established in 1990 by the TANUVAS Act 1989, is the state veterinary and animal sciences university of Tamil Nadu. Headquartered at Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai, TANUVAS was formed by separating the veterinary college from TNAU. It is one of India's leading veterinary universities.
TANUVAS has 8 constituent colleges — Madras Veterinary College (Chennai, founded 1903 — the oldest vet college in India), Veterinary College & Research Institute (Tirunelveli/Namakkal/Tirunelveli/Orathanadu), College of Animal Husbandry (Salem), College of Food & Dairy Technology (Chennai), College of Poultry Production & Management (Hosur), and 18 research stations. ICAR-accredited.
UG admissions through TANUVAS Admission Committee (state quota 85%) and ICAR AIEEA UG (15%). PG/PhD through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF and TANUVAS-conducted entrances.
