About Tamilnadu Agricultural University
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), established in 1971 by the TNAU Act 1971, is the principal state agricultural university of Tamil Nadu. Headquartered at Lawley Road, Coimbatore, TNAU was established by upgrading the College of Agriculture Coimbatore (originally founded 1868). TNAU is one of India's top SAUs ranked among the top 5 agricultural universities in NIRF.
TNAU has 14 constituent colleges — Coimbatore (main HQ), Madurai (Agricultural College & Research Institute), Killikulam (Tirunelveli), Thanjavur (Soil Sciences), Trichy (Forest Research), Madurai (Veterinary), Kumulur (Plantation Sciences) and others. It operates 32 research stations and 33 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across Tamil Nadu. ICAR-accredited; ranked top SAU multiple times.
UG admissions to BSc Agri/Hort/Forestry/Fisheries through TNAU Admission Committee (state quota 85%) and ICAR AIEEA UG (15%). PG/PhD through ICAR AIEEA PG / AICE-JRF and TNAU-conducted entrances.
