About Thiruvalluvar University

Thiruvalluvar University, established in 2002 by an Act of the Tamil Nadu state legislature (operational 2003), is a state university located at Serkkadu, Vellore. The university is named after Thiruvalluvar — the legendary Tamil poet-philosopher (author of Thirukkural, 1st century BCE). Thiruvalluvar U serves the northern Tamil Nadu region — Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Salem districts.

Thiruvalluvar University has 20+ teaching departments organised into faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, Education and Management. It affiliates 100+ UG and PG colleges across northern TN. NAAC accredited.
