About Tripura University

Tripura University, established in 1987 as a state university and elevated to Central University status in 2007 by the Tripura University Act 2007 of Parliament, is the principal Central University of Tripura. Headquartered at Suryamaninagar, near Agartala, Tripura University is the only Central University in Tripura and serves as the apex centre for higher education and research in the state.

Tripura University has 35 teaching departments organised into 11 schools — Languages (including Kokborok — the indigenous Tripuri language), Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Education, Engineering & Technology, Earth Sciences, Commerce & Management, Performing Arts, and Department of Tribal Studies. NAAC accredited.

UG admissions through CUET UG, PG through CUET PG, and PhD through CUET PhD or Tripura U PhD entrance. Central reservation policy applies with NE-region priority (SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, PwBD 5% horizontal).
